As a web-based application, SPIRIT can operate from the Cloud or an in-house server using the highest industry standard encryption methods for remote web-based access. SPIRIT was developed with using the national Governance Guidelines for Juvenile Information Sharing (JIS) as a foundation. The Governance Guidelines for JIS were established by the National Juvenile Information Sharing Initiative (NJISI), a national cooperative program with the Department of Justice’s Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP).
